Fourth Generation Vocoder™ (4GV™)
Overview
Qualcomm’s Fourth Generation Vocoder™, or 4GV™, is a core voice codec suite that enables network operators to dynamically prioritize voice quality and network capacity. 4GV offers dramatically enhanced network capacity by up to 40 percent with only a software upgrade. When deployed in conjunction with receive diversity, capacity gains are even more dramatic.
Fully supported by select Mobile Station Modem™ (MSM™) chipsets, the 4GV solution also increases the overall quality of end-to-end services for delay-sensitive applications such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). As user demand for data-intensive applications continues to grow, 4GV delivers network operators the ability to accommodate new needs while leveraging their existing investments into 3G networks.
Benefits
