Overview

Qualcomm is expanding its wireless offerings by introducing the Reference Design Program--a portfolio of turnkey 3G phones. The objective of the reference program is to enable handset manufacturers (OEMs) to quickly bring certified phones to the operators. The reference program will also generate phones for the open market, a very important sales channel in the emerging regions.

The Qualcomm Reference Design Program offers a blueprint (complete with hardware design, software, applications and a customizable UI) to OEMs and design houses to make feature phones and smart phones. The OEMs will benefit from fast time-to-market and reduced NRE (non-recurring engineering) costs.
